Dr. Szymanowski earned a degree in integrative biology from the University of California, Berkeley before attending Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston.

After completing dental school in 2003, Dr. Szymanowski was accepted to the University of Pennsylvania for his two-year postgraduate training in orthodontics.

At this illustrious Ivy league university, Dr. Szymanowski was most fortunate to learn orthodontics under the guidance of Dr. Robert “Slick” Vanarsdale, a well-respected leader in orthodontics and periodontics worldwide. (This is the man who wrote the book on orthodontics!)

Since completing his orthodontic training in 2005, Dr. Szymanowski has had the opportunity to practice with several outstanding orthodontists, including Dr. Martin Van Vliet in New York and Dr. Peter Worth in Roseville.

Invisalign is incredibly popular with both patients and orthodontists in Sacramento and is the top alternative to traditional braces. Instead of brackets and bands, the Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten your teeth.

Invisalign aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material and customized to fit snugly over your teeth. To keep your teeth moving in the direction you want them to, you’ll need to switch your invisible trays out for the next one in the series every 1-2 weeks as directed by Dr. Szymanowski.

The Invisalign system can only work if the recommended guidelines are followed exactly! Aligners should be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment. If patients neglect to wear the aligners as directed, it can impede the results and also add time to the orthodontic process.

Invisalign is at its most efficient when correcting many of the most common orthodontic issues. For some complex cases, Invisalign may not be a good option.
