Types Of Braces

It’s a good time to get braces! Orthodontic technology has come along in leaps and bounds in recent years, and Damon Smiles is proud to offer our patients a wide variety of unique treatment options in our Sacramento office. We have an expert team in place to successfully treat a range of orthodontic issues in patients of all ages, including

  • crowded teeth
  • gaps between the teeth
  • protruding teeth
  • overbites
  • underbites
  • crossbite
  • impacted teeth

We can do this using several treatment methods, including traditional braces. Braces are the most common type of orthodontic treatment and the most easily recognizable as well. But far from the bulky contraptions they once were, today’s braces are smaller, more aesthetically pleasing, and more efficient. This transformation has resulted in a better orthodontic experience for you and your orthodontist.

If you’ve been considering braces as a way to improve your oral health and achieve a healthier smile, you may be wondering what options are available to you. When you schedule a free consultation with Dr. Damon, he’ll be able to determine which treatment option would be best for you and your unique smile. Let’s take a closer look at what types of braces are available, how they differ, and how this treatment staple can give you a beautiful smile you’ll want to share with the world!

What are traditional braces?

Traditional braces are made up of metal or clear brackets that have been attached to the teeth then tied together by wires and tiny rubber bands, or elastics. This method is especially good at fixing complex tooth issues and can work faster at closing gaps and aligning teeth than other treatments might. This has the potential to shorten your treatment time, although of course, this will vary from patient to patient. In general, however, the average treatment time for braces tends to be anywhere from 18-36 months.

While the maintenance involved with traditional braces can have a learning curve in the early days, it gets easier with time and practice. A good dental hygiene routine is essential for oral health, and it’s even more important for patients in braces since food and bacteria can get stuck in between the wires and teeth. If you struggle with brushing and flossing effectively while wearing braces, there are several tools designed to make it easier. Waterpiks help rinse any hard to reach areas and ortho picks can assist with flossing. We recommend brushing twice a day for at least two minutes each time, and flossing every night before bed to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

Sticky and crunchy foods can damage the brackets and wires, so patients in braces will need to avoid these kinds of foods during treatment. While it can take some getting used to, it won’t last forever! Any minor frustrations will be more than worth it once your braces come off and get a look at your beautiful new smile.

While in braces, you can expect follow-up visits in our office every 4-8 weeks or so throughout the treatment process. During these appointments, Dr. Damon will change the bands that are attached to the brackets and may replace the wire as well. These check-ups tend to be fairly brief, so you can get back to school or work quickly! There can sometimes be a bit of residual soreness following these adjustments, but it should only be temporary.

These visits are a very important part of the overall treatment plan. To help us ensure the very best results in the least amount of time, you should always try your best not to miss them!

Types Of Braces

Types of braces

Metal braces

Made out of stainless steel, nickel, and other high-quality metals, metal braces are very durable and long-lasting. Modern braces are much more comfortable and lighter than they used to be, with smaller brackets and customizable bands to choose from. They have a long track record of delivering excellent results and are especially useful in cases that are more severe or complicated.

Since they don’t need some of the more complex technology or expensive equipment that newer treatments do, metal braces also tend to be a slightly more affordable option. The overall strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness of traditional braces keep them the top treatment in orthodontics, year in and year out.

Ceramic braces

Sometimes referred to as clear braces, tooth-colored braces, or aesthetic braces, ceramic braces function in much the same way metal braces do, with the added benefit of tooth-colored ceramic brackets. While ceramic braces are about the same size and shape as metal braces, they’re better able to blend in with your natural smile for a more discreet straightening option.

Although ceramic braces are tough, the material they are made out of is slightly more prone to chipping or cracking. Since metal braces can tolerate more pressure than ceramic ones, they may be a better option if you need severe corrections.

Ceramic brackets are often slightly more expensive than metal brackets, as well. Since they can be more expensive and are more prone to breakage, we believe ceramic braces are generally better suited to adults and older teens. When paired with clear, white, or tooth-colored wires and elastic ties, they are an incredibly subtle and efficient way to achieve a beautifully aligned smile.

Invisalign clear aligner therapy

The Invisalign system is comprised of clear, removable aligners custom designed to fit comfortably over your teeth. Like traditional braces, these customized aligners gently move the teeth into the desired positions. To accomplish this, you’ll wear them 20-22 hours per day throughout the course of treatment, and replacing them every 1-2 weeks for the next aligner in the system.

Invisalign offers patients a bit more freedom and flexibility than regular braces do. There are no food restrictions since aligners are removed when eating or drinking, and it’s easy to keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy since you don’t have to work around wires and brackets. You simply remove the aligner, then brush and floss the way you normally would!

How Much Do Braces Cost?

“How much will braces cost?” This is a question we get all the time at Damon Smiles Orthodontics. For most people, this is one of their biggest concerns regarding orthodontic treatment. With multiple treatment options to choose from and customized treatment plans for every patient, the answer to that question will depend on a few different variables! These include:

  • The type of braces chosen
  • Whether the braces are for an adult or a child
  • The orthodontic issues being corrected
  • How long braces will be needed
  • If the patient has dental insurance that covers orthodontics
  • The orthodontist providing treatment
  • The area in which the patient lives and will be receiving treatment

Factors such as these play a part in the total cost of treatment. For example, traditional metal braces are generally the least expensive option, while clear braces of Invisalign clear aligner therapy may cost slightly more. Orthodontic treatment for children will often be a bit less expensive than adult treatment because teeth are able to move most quickly at a young age, and cases are usually less complicated. However, this will vary from case to case. Patients who have more severe or complex problems may require longer treatment times, which means more work for the orthodontist and more follow-up appointments.

Finally, each orthodontist will have their own pricing structure which will be based in part on where they’re located. Some insurance policies will provide coverage for orthodontic treatment, but how much will depend on the individual patient and the treatment needed.

What does the total cost of treatment include?

No need to worry about hidden costs or unwelcome surprised with Damon Smiles Orthodontics. We’ll outline everything included in the treatment plan before ever beginning the active phase of your orthodontic process. Our individualized treatment plans contain everything needed for beautiful results that last, including:

  • all appointments, including emergency visits
  • braces or aligners
  • retainers
  • post-treatment follow-up visits
  • an oral hygiene starter pack

Our fees encompass the skill of our expert team, the quality of the products we use, and the top-notch service we provide. Our doctor has been creating healthier smiles with orthodontics for more than 50 years! We know braces are a significant investment, and we’re proud to help patients achieve a confident smile they’ll enjoy for many years to come.

What is the average cost for braces?

Even though there is no “one size fits all” answer for how much orthodontic treatment will cost, the average cost for a child can be anywhere from $3-7K, while adult braces or aligners can run from around $5-8K. Again, the total cost of braces will depend on the individual patient’s specific needs, along with everything mentioned above.

Using dental insurance to cover orthodontic treatment

Some dental insurance plans will cover orthodontic treatment, but the coverage rules and policies can be confusing. We have many years of experience working with insurance companies, and we’re committed to helping our patients receive the maximum coverage!

Each customized treatment plan is based upon the patient’s unique health needs and the professional judgment of Dr. Damon. We won’t recommend treatment based on whether or not certain treatment options are covered by insurance. Instead, our patients are presented with a plan that is the best fit for their smile needs.

Once a patient has seen Dr. Damon for a consultation and received a diagnosis and treatment plan, those with dental insurance should check with their provider to see what they will and will not cover in the way of orthodontic treatment.

As a courtesy to our patients, we’re happy to help with insurance claims and paperwork. Co-payments or out of pocket expenses will be estimated in advance of treatment. Once treatment is complete and all insurance payments are received, we’ll reconcile the account. Patients will be responsible for any underpayment.

If insurance won’t cover treatment, can the cost be deducted?

If braces are considered to be medically necessary, the dental health care costs associated with them may be tax-deductible. However, the cost has to exceed a certain amount before any deductions would kick in. Patients should keep track of all expenses associated with braces treatment if they wish to deduct the costs, including co-pays and check-up visits.

Will Medicaid cover the cost of braces?

Treatment costs may be covered by the Medicaid if the patient’s braces are deemed medically necessary. For those who want to learn more about this possibility, visit http://www.medicaid.gov/. Make sure you ask about the percentage of coverage and the lifetime maximum before starting with the treatment.

How Much Do Braces Cost?

Beautiful smiles are worth the investment at Damon Smiles Orthodontics

Braces are about more than improving a patient’s cosmetic appearance. Oral health is an important part of total body health. Misaligned teeth can increase the risk for cavities, tooth decay, pain and soreness in the head and neck, and gum disease, among other things. Although orthodontic treatment can be a significant investment, it’s one that can last a lifetime!

A smile is too important to comparison shop based only on price. While it’s human nature to want a good deal, when it comes to choosing an orthodontist, skill and experience are the most important factors. Patients will spend quite a bit of time visiting their orthodontist’s office throughout the course of treatment, so pick a practice that feels warm, welcoming, and comfortable!

At Damon Smiles Orthodontics, we strive to provide patients with a positive and stress-free orthodontic experience, from the first appointment to the last. We believe everyone should have access to high-quality, affordable orthodontic care, and work hard to provide this for you.

The 5 Best Foods For Braces

Choosing to improve your smile with braces from Szymanowski Orthodontics is exciting, but like anything new, it also comes with quite a few changes! When you look in the mirror, your smile will look different, and you might also find that your mouth feels a bit unfamiliar at first, too. Because your teeth won’t be touching the same way they did before, it can change the way you chew, and may even affect your speech temporarily, especially in the early days of treatment. But don’t worry! As your teeth begin shifting, your mouth will adapt, and chewing will start to feel more natural again.

Within a month or so of having your braces put on, you should be able to eat most orthodontist-approved foods. However, there are certain food restrictions that will continue throughout your orthodontic journey. While all this effort will definitely be worth it once your braces are removed and your new smile revealed, we understand that these restrictions can be frustrating sometimes.

At Szymanowski Orthodontics, it’s important to us that your time in braces is as comfortable and stress-free as possible! That’s why we’ve put together a few tips to help you cope with the chewing challenges that can come with braces, along with a list of some of the best foods you can eat as an orthodontic patient. Keep reading to learn about the 5 best foods for braces!

Patience is key

Orthodontic treatment is an important investment in your oral health, your total body health, and a straighter smile. While you’re in braces, it can feel like forever, but rest assured, they really are temporary! When you consider that the benefits last a lifetime, braces are a relatively brief time commitment, but patience is an important part of that process. If you can accept from the beginning that you’ll have a few limitations for a while, it will make things much easier on you. You can also help the treatment process go more smoothly by trying to:

slow down! We all do it from time to time, but try to avoid taking huge bites or scarfing down your food. No matter what you’re eating, take a little extra time to cut it into bite-sized pieces, and chew each piece slowly and carefully.

stick to softer foods. Immediately after your braces are put on, and for a day or two following adjustment appointments, your mouth may feel tender. To put less pressure on the sore spots, look for foods that are soft, like soup, mashed potatoes, and smoothies.  While you can eventually add things like steak and burgers back to the menu, take it easy for a few days to protect your mouth and braces.

leave nuts and seeds in your backyard for the time being. As healthy as these items are, they’re a big no-no when you’re wearing braces. That’s because they can get stuck in your brackets, which may bend or break them. The same holds true for any sticky or crunchy foods, too. To get the most out of your braces, protect them by avoiding foods that can cause damage.

treat yourself! Indulging in a little frozen yogurt, a popsicle, or ice cream can be an excellent way to give your mouth some relief when it’s feeling sore. Just remember to brush your teeth thoroughly as soon as you’re done to keep them clean and healthy.

5 braces-safe foods that are good for you

Oral health goes beyond simple brushing and flossing. To give your teeth and gums the best care when you’re in braces, you should be aiming to eat a healthy diet that’s rich and varied. There are many foods that are safe for braces and good for your teeth. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite below!

Smoothies

Smoothies are kind of a staple amongst braces patients. Both the temperature and texture can help soothe any oral discomfort you’re experiencing by decreasing swelling and creating a numbing sensation in your gums and teeth. With so many fruits and vegetables to choose from, the combinations are endless, which means they never get boring. Smoothies are also fun to make and easy to take with you on the go! Serve one in a glass on its own or in a bowl with healthy toppings for an extra boost of vitamins and minerals.

Yogurt

Similar in texture to smoothies, yogurt can be an easy snack when your mouth is feeling sore. Whether you like it plain, Greek, or mixed with fruit and honey, yogurt is high in calcium and protein that helps strengthen your teeth. It also gives you an extra boost of beneficial bacteria thanks to the probiotics it naturally contains. This is good for your gums because it crowds out bad bacteria that can lead to cavities. Speaking of cavities, even plain yogurt has naturally-occurring sugars, so be sure to brush your teeth after you eat any.

Eggs

Eggs are an extremely versatile food! You can have them breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and they can be eaten scrambled, boiled, or poached. No matter which way you like them, they will generally be soft enough even when your mouth is at its most tender. Eggs are also an excellent protein source, and rich in phosphorus, which helps to build strong bones and teeth when combined with calcium and Vitamin D. The protein contributes to keeping your teeth healthy, and reducing decay.

Fish

Even when it’s cut up into small pieces, beef, pork, and chicken can be hard to manage if putting pressure on your teeth causes pain. Because it’s naturally soft and flaky, fish can be a fantastic alternative! The omega-3 fatty acids found in fish have been linked with lower rates of gum disease because they naturally decrease inflammation. Fatty fish like salmon and Atlantic mackerel are also good sources of vitamin D, which helps your body absorb and use calcium effectively. Calcium is critical for oral health since it helps to protect the teeth and gums from disease.

Cooked fruits and veggies

It’s best to avoid raw fruits and vegetables with new braces, and you should really be careful with them throughout treatment since their crunch can be hard on brackets and wires. Baking, boiling, or roasting them makes them soft enough to eat with braces! Everyone knows eating a rainbow is good for your body, but fruits and veggies also contain vitamin C, which helps protect gums and other tissues from cell damage and bacterial infections.

5 Tips For Going Back To School With Braces

Getting ready to go back to school after a summer of fun comes with its own ups and downs. On one hand, it can be exciting for patients and parents alike to get back into the swing of the school routine. On the other hand, students may be feeling nervous about facing the unknown, particularly if they’re dealing with a new adventure like orthodontic treatment. If you had braces put on this summer, you may be anxious about navigating school in the weeks and months ahead. You’re not alone!

Many of the children and teens we treat here at Szymanowski Orthodontics get a bad case of the nerves before heading back to school with braces. But our expert team is here to help you ease into that transition from summer nights to early mornings. We want you to start the school year off right with a spring in your step and confidence in your smile! Let’s take a look at a few of our favorite tips for surviving school as a braces patient.

Give your lunch menu some extra thought

Food restrictions can be one of the biggest learning curves when it comes to being in braces. You already know to stay away from anything too crunchy or chewy, but you may be finding it difficult to avoid treats at school that were easy to ignore at home. This is especially true if you prefer to buy school lunches, or  have access to a vending machine for snacks.

To help keep your treatment plan progressing as it should be, check out your school’s lunch menu ahead of time each week. Keep an eye out for braces-friendly options like soft vegetables, spaghetti, mac and cheese, and lean cuts of meat. If the choices are limited or you’re a picky eater, packing a lunch may make life a little easier. It’s easier for braces patients to eat and chew when the food has been cut into bite-sized pieces, so keep that in mind when your pack your lunch.

If you like sandwiches, cut them into smaller pieces the night before to save you some time. This will also keep lunchtime brushing and flossing to a minimum. Consider adding healthy snacks like yogurt, applesauce, and cheese strings to your lunch bag, too! These are gentle on your braces and will help you feel full throughout the day.

Go for H2O

Staying hydrated is one of the best things you can do for your overall health, but the benefits don’t stop there! Drinking water throughout the day will also help wash food particles away from your teeth and braces. Choose water over sugary liquids like soda and fruit juice, as these can stain the teeth and increase the risk of you developing cavities. They may also lead to white spots on your teeth that won’t be revealed until your brackets are removed. If you do indulge in a sweet drink here and there, use a straw to keep the sugar away from your teeth. Don’t forget to brush them as soon as you can, too!

Stay prepared with a basic braces kit

We recommend our braces patients keep a care kit in their purse, backpack, or locker. This can be especially helpful if you’re new to orthodontic treatment! Having a few useful items with you will keep you prepared for any braces-related issues that might unexpectedly pop up during the school day. Consider including things like:

  • a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste for brushing after lunch
  • floss or ortho picks to use after lunch
  • orthodontic wax, which can be used to cover any part of your braces causing irritation
  • extra rubber bands (you’re probably changing these out frequently each day, anyway)
  • lip balm for dry lips, which can be exacerbated by braces
  • an unsharpened pencil for the eraser end (this can be used to push any stray wires back into place)

Take a good look at yourself

Eating with braces can be just plain tricky sometimes, no matter how careful you are. Braces are prone to nooks and crannies that can easily trap food particles as you eat, which can be embarrassing! Leftover food also increases the chance of developing bacteria and plaque, which may eventually lead to cavities and tooth decay if left untreated.

Most of us aren’t comfortable pointing it out if there’s something stuck in someone’s teeth or braces. For this reason, we recommend you keep a small mirror in your locker or backpack so you can check your braces after you eat. This will give you the chance to clear out any obvious food particles before people have time to notice!

Protect your braces (along with your smile)

If you’re a student athlete or still have regular P.E. classes, you may want to consider wearing an orthodontic mouthguard. Sports and other physical activities can increase the risk of your braces being damaged or your mouth being injured. Because orthodontic mouth guards are specifically designed to be worn with braces, they’re the easiest way to ensure your overall oral health! These mouth guards can often be found at major sporting goods stores, along with non-orthodontic models. If you’d prefer to go through our practice instead, Dr. Szymanowski is happy to recommend or order one for you.

5 Reasons Adults Should Consider Braces

Once upon a time, you wouldn’t find braces within about twenty feet of a full grown adult. They belonged firmly in the realm of children and teens. The stereotypical “teen with a mouth full of metal” cliché has persisted for a reason, after all! But times have changed, and nowadays, adults can often comprise up to 25% of orthodontic patients. Such a shift can be attributed to several factors. Some adults want to improve their smiles or correct misaligned bites, while others are looking to boost their self-esteem or even improve their overall health. Whatever the reason, there’s never been a better time for adults to reap the benefits of orthodontic treatment. Here at Szymanowski Orthodontics, we know that this kind of treatment can be successful at any age, so let’s discuss the top 5 reasons adults should consider getting braces!

1. Every smile is an important smile

For better or worse, your smile is one of the first things people will notice about you. Whether we’re socializing, networking, or even communicating virtually, our smiles have an effect on how others perceive us. In fact, studies have shown that teeth are a standout feature when it comes to what people notice and recall when first meeting someone.

If you have crooked teeth or problems with misalignment, you may be missing out on wowing with your smile by covering your mouth or keeping it closed at all costs. It might seem silly, but your oral health and the appearance of your teeth can impact everything from your marketability to your social life. Why not explore the benefits orthodontic treatment could bring you now? A few months or even years in braces are worth it for a smile you can show off for a lifetime!

2. Even healthy teeth can move at any age

It’s an unfortunate truth — teeth can shift at any age. This can be due to an injury, a health condition, or simply the natural movement that occurs as we age. You may have had straight teeth in the past, but are now facing a crooked or overcrowded smile that you simply don’t know what to do with. Or perhaps you had braces in the past, but are still finding your teeth to be shifting as you get older. You might even be one of those former orthodontic patients who refused to wear their retainer as often as directed (it happens.)

Ultimately, the “why” doesn’t matter as much as the “what now?” when it comes to shifting teeth, and the answer to that is: braces by Szymanowski Orthodontics, of course!

3. Braces can help reduce the risk of serious dental problems in adults

Research has shown that the frequency of misalignment in adults is comparable to the frequency in children and teens. Crooked teeth and misaligned bites can contribute to serious oral issues in adults, including an increased chance of developing plaque due to a buildup of food in between the poorly positioned teeth you can’t properly clean. Orthodontic treatment in the form of braces can help you avoid things like tooth decay, gum and bone loss, irregular wear of enamel, and sometimes even relieve or prevent the chronic facial discomfort that comes with TMJ/TMD pain.

4. Braces can improve both your oral and your overall health

Many people are unaware that problems with your mouth can lead to problems elsewhere. Crooked teeth, misaligned bites or jaws — if left untreated — may lead to headaches, earaches, facial pain, and more. They can also affect how you chew your food, leading to potential gastrointestinal difficulties. Furthermore, research has shown that gum disease may play a part in the health of your heart. Choosing braces as an adult has benefits that go far beyond just a beautiful smile! They can improve your overall health as well as straighten your teeth.

5. Modern braces are better than they’ve ever been

Braces have come a long way, baby. Over the years they’ve evolved from the stereotypical “brace face” type to sleeker, more comfortable, less noticeable options. Metal is no longer your only choice for orthodontic treatment, either. Ceramic braces are clear or tooth-colored, and popular with adults due to their cosmetic appeal. For similar reasons, the Invisalign aligner system is another popular choice among our patients. These clear, plastic, custom-fit aligners are removable, worn over the teeth, and use no metal or wires. They also have no food restrictions, and you’re able to brush and floss like you normally would. These are just two of the many patient services we offer.

Not only are today’s braces lighter, more comfortable, and less noticeable, they’re more affordable, as well! Some medical and dental insurance plans will cover part of the cost of braces for patients over 18, but if they won’t, don’t despair. Our orthodontic office offers many financing options to accommodate your needs, and we’d be happy to go over them with you.

During your initial consultation, we’ll review your orthodontic coverage and explain your benefits to you. Once treatment begins, we can submit and file an insurance claim on your behalf to make sure your benefits are maximized.

Top 3 Reasons Summer’s The Best Season To Start Invisalign Teen

With summer vacation right around the corner, students everywhere are looking forward to sleeping in, swimming, and taking full advantage of the sunshine. One subject you probably won’t find on their radar is orthodontic treatment, but this is actually an ideal time to start a new treatment like Invisalign Teen with Szymanowski Orthodontics!

We’d love for you to swing by our Facebook page and join the conversation about our very favorite summer activities, but in the meantime, let’s take a quick look at the Top 3 Reasons Summer Is The Best Season To Start Invisalign Teen.

1. Appointment flexibility

The school year is often so full of activities – both academic and extracurricular – that it can sometimes feel impossible to fit one more thing in. But it’s important to remember that your office visits don’t end once your orthodontic treatment begins! Even after you receive your first customized Invisalign aligner, we’ll still want to see you every 4-8 weeks for check ups to ensure everything is progressing as planned. It’s much easier to get into this kind of routine over the summer, when your schedule is more open. Our office is generally more flexible in these months as well! With many families vacationing or kids going to camp, we tend to have more appointments open up during the summer than at other times of the year.

The summer is also a great time to have your initial Invisalign consultation, which is complimentary here at Szymanowski Orthodontics. This appointment covers quite a lot of ground, and includes

digital photographs and x-rays to help analyze your specific orthodontic needs
a brief Q&A session with our treatment coordinator
a comprehensive oral examination
specific treatment recommendations
a discussion of the multiple payment options we offer, as well as a presentation of your insurance benefits

Unsurprisingly, it can last a while! Scheduling it for summertime means you don’t have to worry about missing school or any important assignments.

2. Time to get used to your aligners

detailed invisalign trayInvisalign Teen may not have the learning curve more traditional braces do, but the aligner system does take some getting used to. Understanding how Invisalign works is the first step to successfully completing treatment.

The Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible, and look a little similar to teeth-whitening trays. However, these aligners are custom-made so that your teeth can be moved in a sequence specific to you. Like braces, Invisalign move your teeth through controlled force, with one difference: Invisalign also controls the timing of this applied force. Treatment is split into stages, with only certain teeth allowed to move during each stage. These movements are determined as part of the unique treatment plan we’ll map out for you before designing your aligners.

Over the course of treatment, you’re supplied with a series of aligners, each of which will make slight adjustments to the position of your teeth. When the aligners are placed on the teeth, they cause the teeth to gradually shift from their current position. You’ll replace your aligners every 1-2 weeks, allowing the tooth straightening process to continue.

One of the biggest benefits of Invisalign Teen is that the aligners are removable, meaning there are no food restrictions and dental hygiene is much easier to maintain. However, the aligners must be kept in for 20-22 hours every day throughout the entirety of your treatment in order to be effective. Wearing them for less time than directed can result in extending your treatment time.

Without having any homework or school projects to worry about, summer is an excellent time to get into a good routine with keeping your aligners in for at least 20 hours a day.

3. More time for hygiene

Late night study sessions can leave you wanting to fall into bed without bothering to break out your toothbrush beforehand. But one of the most important things you can do to achieve a beautiful smile is to brush and floss properly every day. Invisalign Teen can straighten your teeth, but it’s up to you to keep them clean!

Here at Szymanowski Orthodontics, we feel so strongly about good oral hygiene that we reward our patients with Smile Rewards points for brushing well, regular cleaning, no new cavities, and more. These points can then be redeemed for exciting prizes. The best prize, of course, is a brighter, straighter smile! And the good news is that the Invisalign Teen system makes brushing a breeze. Simply remove the aligner, and brush and floss teeth thoroughly. To keep your aligner clean, you can either use a toothbrush with water, or the Invisalign cleaning system.
